As members of the Jewish and Palestinian diaspora here in the US are visited by threats and attacks, my heart breaks. Not only have they experienced loss of loved ones in the Middle East, they have been further traumatized in their own communities. The suffering radiates outward from its intense core. It must end.

While there are still concerns about the impact of this development on our historic borough, it's good to see that the blight along State Street will finally be replaced by interesting businesses and beneficial structures.

One feature I am very interested in is the proposed bridge across Newtown Creek, which will make it much safer for township residents like me to walk into the borough.

Kudos to Supervisor Elen Snyder for shaping Newtown Township's single-use plastics ban, and kudos to the Democratic majority which supported it. We will reclaim our environment not just in broad strokes, but through more modest changes which add up to meaningful change.

Middle Bucks will benefit from the reopening of this bridge. I'll be looking into it for biking, although it leads to Swamp Road, the main dump truck route away from our quarries and a dangerous route for cyclists. I also hope to float under it in my kayak on my way down Neshaminy Creek when conditions permit.
