About the Auditor General:
"The Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General is the chief fiscal watchdog of the commonwealth. It is responsible for using audits to ensure that all state money is spent legally and properly.
"The auditor general was created by an act of the General Assembly in 1809. The auditor general was appointed by the governor until 1850, when it became an elected office. The auditor general can serve a maximum of two, four-year terms. Eugene A. DePasquale is Pennsylvania’s 51st elected auditor general.*
"The mission of the Department of the Auditor General is to serve the people of Pennsylvania by improving government accountability, transparency, and the effective use of taxpayer dollars."
*Eugene DePasquale is running for Congress in PA's 10th Congressional District and is not seeking reelection.

My life’s work has been performed from the perspective of being an outside independent auditor with no ties or affiliations. As a certified public accountant in private practice, I have experience managing governmental and private audit projects for clients with revenues as large as $150 billion dollars and as low as a few thousand dollars. My managerial experience is broad and vast and I will use this experience to develop a broad based operational strategy with concrete goals and a defined mission to lead the Auditor General’s office into the future."
