Newtown Rail Trail
Development of the multi-use rail trail along the old Septa R8 easement through Upper Southampton and Northampton is continuing, though completion is years away. The trail is already complete in Montgomery County from Rockledge to Byberry Road.
This Newtown Township resident anxiously awaits the day when he can bike from his front door to the Newtown terminus of the completed trail, and complete the round trip to Rockledge and back, through Churchville Nature Center, Tamanend Park, Bryn Athyn, and past numerous points of interest and eating establishments.
In the aftermath of the recent project approval from Northampton Township's Board of Supervisors, Middletown and Newtown Townships should move quickly to finalize their own plans.

Actual construction of a biking/walking trail to replace a long unused SEPTA rail line will likely not start for several more years in the township.
